This landowner wanted to clear the underbrush, thin out the saplings, reduce deadfall and litter build up, and create a healthy ecosystem for wildlife.
The sheep and goats were able to eat through all the brush, girdled the too dense saplings, and were able to return 90% of the nutrients back to the soil in their urine and defecation. The sheep and goats were able to remove biomass where equipment would be difficult due to the large boulders and stumps. In the spring, there will be more available forage for the landowner’s desired wildlife.
